SHE HAS GONE FROM ONE OF THE MOST PROVOCATIVE AND SEXUALLY ALLURING ARTISTS OF OUR TIME, WINNING A GRAMMY IN 2001 FOR HER ROLE IN THE REMAKE OF LADY MARMALADE WITH CHRISTINA, MYA AND PINK AND CO, TO A VERY UNATTRACTIVE SIGHT IN PLAIN AND UNREVEALING PRISON HOUSE GARB ! Lil' Kim has been jailed and fined for lying to a grand jury. Rap star Lil' Kim, convicted of perjury and conspiracy in March, has been sentenced to a year in jail for lying to a grand jury to protect friends. The jury was investigating two of her associates involved in a 2001 shooting outside a Manhattan radio station. She had faced up to 20 years in jail on three counts of perjury and one count of conspiracy. Lil' Kim, 29, is thought to be the first high-profile female rap star to be sent to prison in the US. Before her sentencing in New York, the Grammy-winning artist made a plea for leniency, admitting she had done wrong. "I testified falsely to the grand jury and during the trial. At the time I thought it was the right thing to do. Now I know it was wrong," she said in court. Lil' Kim, real name Kimberley Jones, was also fined $50,000 (£28,000). Charges were brought against her after a gunfight erupted outside the Hot 97 radio station in 2001 as a rival rap group was arriving. Jones and members of her rap group Junior Mafia had been guests on the station. As they left the building, a shootout broke out between members of her entourage and rival group Capone-N-Noreaga. The group had challenged their rivals about an insult aimed at Jones by another female rapper, Foxy Brown, in a song called Bang Bang. Lil' Kim was accused of lying numerous times in 2003 court appearances when she told a grand jury her ex-manager was not at the station on the day and denied knowing a former bodyguard. Both admitted they were there and pleaded guilty to gun charges. One man was injured in the shootout, which happened at the same radio station where rapper 50 Cent was involved in a gun battle in March this year. Now, Rap Singer Lil' Kim is suing her former recording partner for $6 million, claiming that James "Lil’ Cease" Lloyd is preparing to release an unauthorized DVD, "The Chronicles of Junior M.A.F.I.A. Part II: Reloaded." Lil' Kim declared that the DVD, like a predecessor, was unauthorized and improperly uses her name and image. Kim also accuses Cease that he has publicly announced that the DVD will include interviews with him and other members of the Junior M.A.F.I.A. explaining their involvement in her trial. Lil' Kim was sentenced two weeks ago to one year and a day in jail for lying to a federal grand jury about a 2001 shootout outside a Manhattan radio station. The judge showed her some clemency after Jim declared she's a "God-fearing person". Lil’ Kim has to report to prison on September 19. She was also fined $50,000. During the testimony, Kim declared she did not see Damion Butler and Suif Jackson at the scene of the shooting incident outside a radio station in Manhattan in 2001. However, Mr. Lloyd and fellow Brooklyn rapper Antoine "Banger" Spain testified that they were with her at the time. Kimberly Denise Jones, professionally known as Lil' Kim (also called The Queen Bee, The Lieutenant, and The Queen Bitch such as the QB of all bitches) is a United States rapper who was born in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of New York City on July 11, 1975. Lil' Kim may be small in stature, but the only thing that's small about this hot, hot female rapper is her height (4'11"). Having overcome a very troubled youth and the murder of her mentor -- Notorious B.I.G. -- Lil' Kim is now one of the most successful and acclaimed female rappers of all time. Her provocative attire may be unforgettable (as was the case at the 2000 MTV Music Awards, where she wore a pasted purple sticky over one breast), but it's her music from albums like Hard Core (1996), Notorious K.I.M. (2000) and La Bella Mafia (2003) that keeps everyone interested. Do you want to meet a real bad girl? Lil' Kim sure fits the bill. Her foul mouth, mixed with her incredible and constant nakedness, have made her a successful musical artist who is both feared and admired by women, and feared and desired by men worldwide. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, Kimberly Denise Jones and her older brother Christopher were left under the care of her father after her parents got divorced when she was 9 years old. Kimberly and Christopher lived with their mother Ruby Mae at first, until custody of the children was passed on to Linwood Jones. During her now-interrupted career, Lil' Kim won a Grammy Award - Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals - "Lady Marmalade". She has been also honored for Video of the Year - "Lady Marmalade" and for Best Video From a Film-"Lady Marmalade" at the MTV Video Music Award ceremony. Lil' Kim was hardly an angel - even before this VERY sticky brush with the law, Lil' Kim herself and Kim's songs have a well-deserved reputation for being graphically sexual and explicit.
